Nicholas E. Selden joined Walzer Melcher & Yoda after working for several years as a Litigation Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Nicholas handles all matters concerning marriage and dissolution from trial through appeal. This includes but is not limited to prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, dissolution of marriage, custody disputes, complex trials concerning division of property, and spousal support. Representative past matters from Nicholas’s practice as a civil litigator include:

  • Plaintiff’s counsel in a trade association’s ERISA lawsuit against a major American municipality
  • Defense counsel in bet-the-company litigation concerning trade secret and corporate espionage claims
  • Defense counsel in parallel SEC and DOJ investigations against a publicly traded company and its CEO
  • Specialist litigation advice on a multi-billion-dollar merger in the semiconductor industry
  • Defense counsel for multiple major clothing retailers in consumer class action claims
  • Counsel to a Fortune 500 company in employment mediation with a former executive

Nicholas was raised in the San Fernando Valley and received his undergraduate degree at Wesleyan University before attending Columbia Law School. While in law school, Nicholas was a James Kent Scholar (top 10% of his class), a note editor on the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law, and first in his class in Family Law. Prior to private practice, Nicholas was an extern for Associate Justice Gail Ruderman Feuer in the Second Appellate District, Division Seven of the California Courts of Appeal, and a law clerk to the Honorable Dale Fischer in United States District Court for the Central District of California.
