Celebrity lawyer Peter M. Walzer, who is ranked as a best family law attorney in California, explains Prince Harry‘s attack claims on Good Morning Britain.

Prince Harry is claiming his brother, Prince William, physically attacked him during a row at Kensington Palace back in 2019 as their relationship broke down over his marriage to Meghan Markle. Harry says he was knocked to the floor and as a result, injured his back.

Ben:

Yeah. The extraordinary allegation is made in a leaked extract from his new autobiography, Spare, which is set to be published worldwide next week. The Guardian has obtained a copy despite strict pre-launch security measures and North American correspondent Noel Phillips is in New York for us.

Morning, Noel. So get a sense, don’t you, just how toxic the relationship between these two had become and then it’s all going to be laid bare in the book when it’s released in a couple of weeks?

Noel Phillips:

Ben, a “rolling catastrophe” is the expression at which Harry uses in the book to describe his difficult relationship with William in stunning details. He wrote, following their altercation, he was left with scars. And we don’t know to what extent, but what we do know is that he shared details of that fight to that alleged fight with Meghan Markle who was reportedly not at all surprised.

But the scale of the fireworks that Harry has now set off within the royal household is really unprecedented. One legal expert has told me this morning that this alleged incident now has to be treated as a potential case of domestic violence and pressure will be mounting on the Metropolitan Police to possibly launch an investigation.

With the manuscript written and the ink now dry, Prince Harry has revealed a full extent of the rift between him and his brother. In an extraordinary extract leaked to The Guardian just days before the release of his memoir, Spare, Harry claims he was physically attacked by the Prince of Wales back in 2019.

As to what sparked the alleged fight, the Duke of Sussex claims William called his wife Meghan, difficult, rude, and abrasive. He writes, “It all happened so fast, so very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, wrapping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor.” He continues. “I landed on a dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back. The pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

Harry then said he refused to retaliate before his brother said to him, “You don’t need to tell Meg about this.”

“You mean that you attacked me?”

To which William replied, “I didn’t attack you, Harold.”

Peter Walzer:

It’s likely the authorities will demand to see any security tapes in the household and see what happened. They will be under pressure to look into it to do an investigation.

Noel Phillips:

The damning claims by Harry comes after he told ITV in an interview, which airs on Sunday, that he wants his family back.

Prince Harry:

I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back.

Noel Phillips:

But Buckingham Palace is now set to be bracing itself for more revelations.

Maureen Callahan:

There have been a couple of leaks out of the palace, one in which Charles has made it very clear, if Harry goes after Camilla in the book, that is it, they are done. There’s been another leak that Harry and Meghan plan to make up with the royals after the book.

Noel Phillips:

But Harry’s latest attack on his brother may have now dampened any hopes of reconciling.
