Celebrity lawyer Christopher C. Melcher, who is ranked as a best family law attorney in CA, explains why Wendy Williams‘ guardian filed a lawsuit on Inside Edition.
There is an outpouring of support for former daytime star Wendy Williams after it was revealed she’s battling dementia. Her health will be front and center in a new documentary Where is Wendy Williams? airing this weekend on Lifetime. But is a new lawsuit trying to stop the show from airing?
An epic legal battle is underway in an apparent attempt to stop the explosive Wendy Williams documentary from airing on TV this weekend.
What Wendy Willaims’ Lawsuit Entails
The lawsuit was filed by Wendy’s court-appointed legal guardian, and apparently was triggered by those heartbreaking scenes in the documentary where Wendy was seen looking out of it and perhaps not fully aware of what was going on.
The court papers seek an injunction and a temporary restraining order, and reveals for the first time the identity of Wendy’s guardian. She is New York attorney Sabrina Morrissey, who specializes in guardianship and estates according to her website. Wendy’s current whereabouts are known only to the guardian and her care team, although she’s apparently in communication with her niece Alex Finnie and other family members by phone.
“She sounds really good. I haven’t seen her, but we are able to have a full conversation. She’s excited about her future,” states Wendy Williams’ guardian.
The lawsuit names Lifetime’s parent company A&E and the production company behind the documentary.
Why Williams’ Guardian Filed Lawsuit
“It seems like Wendy’s representative is saying that Wendy did not have the ability to understand what she was agreeing to when she participated in this documentary,” explained top family law attorney Christopher C. Melcher.
So could the documentary actually be stopped?
Will Williams’ Documentary Air?
“This documentary is absolutely going to air. No court was going to be able to stop it,” stated Christopher C. Melcher, a partner of Walzer Melcher Yoda LLP, which is ranked as a best family law firm in California.
Lifetime TV tells us they went to court today, and Where is Wendy Williams? will air as planned in two parts, Saturday and Sunday.
