Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Assault Might Be Too Old to Prosecute

Celebrity lawyer Christopher C. Melcher, who is ranked as a best family law attorney in CA, explains why Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ assaults against Cassie Ventura might be too old to prosecute on Good Morning Britain.

The lawyer representing the ex-girlfriend of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs says an apology published on social media by the rapper is disingenuous. In a video responding to the release of CCTV footage, which was obtained by CNN, showing him chasing and assaulting his then partner, Cassie, Combs said he was disgusted with his behavior. We should warn you that some images in Noel Phillips’ report are distressing.

Footage of Diddy Beating Cassie

Noel Phillips: This is the CCTV footage that has appeared to have left Sean “Diddy” Combs’ career and legacy in tatters. Obtained by CNN the video shows what appears to be the music mogul chasing his then-girlfriend singer Cassie Ventura at the Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles in 2016. What happens next is too distressing to broadcast, but seems to support at least some of Ventura’s claims made in a lawsuit that her 54-year-old ex-boyfriend punched, beat, kicked, and stomped on her.

Diddy Apologizes For Actions

The hip-hop star previously denied the allegations and settled the claim, but has apologized for his actions in the video. “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life but sometimes you got to do that. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” stated Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Legal Time Limit for Charges

Noel Phillips: The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office has said that the alleged incident might be too old to prosecute. “There is a legal time limit for the prosecutor to bring those charges, and that time has passed. He’s just sad that he got caught and hasn’t expressed real understanding for what he did so I see no recovery from this for him on a personal reputational level” stated celebrity legal analyst and top family law attorney Christopher C. Melcher of high-net-worth family law firm Walzer Melcher Yoda LLP.

Noel Phillips: Diddy’s two homes were separately raided last month as part of a federal investigation into human trafficking. Noel Phillips, Good Morning Britain, New York.
